Bloeprint Fingerprint Words deel 4: 

Generations

“When I was 19 I ran so far, They couldn’t catch me on the yard, I traveled unfamiliar places, My dad said Son, just come back home, You won’t survive out on your own, you are a fastbreak running aimless. But I’m nothing like you, nothing like you…Why don’t you believe I have the answers”.  

Lyrics taken from the song Micheal Jordan, written by Milow (version known to me by artist Tabitha). The songs tells the story of a young man that inspires to be a ballplayer like his idol Micheal Jordan but is convinced that he is really different from his father. Until he becomes a father himself. As we are unique as a human being and leave our Fingerprint, the way we enter this world is by the ones that give us our DNA, our parents. A 19 year old Milow tells that he wants to run away and his father is concerned about him or doubts him and he tells his father that’s he nothing like him. But what triggers me the most is the lack of trust he feels and utters by saying  that he thinks his father doesn’t believe in him. This example is a common example in Bloeprint Coaching. In parenting the most important thing is your communication with your children. It starts at a young age by the way you play with them and set boundaries until they get older when listening and when speaking to them becomes the essence in raising them to self providing adults. As this society tells us very often we have the right to be unique and different, rightfully so. But how different are we exactly from the ones that birthed us? And in what are we different? In what are we the same?  As Milow drifts away from his father, he starts seeing that the lack showing each other love becomes a problem.  So he makes a decision to start telling his son that he loves him, before its too late. Milow got the chance to correct that what the generation before him, his Father, didn’t have the courage for. To show love while you parent. Therefore saved his son from the burden of not knowing who he is.

2. Children learn by example, so parents lead by example and if you can’t give the right example yet just amid that and try to change it! The child will only learn that they do not have to be perfect.
